![]() My Parents were confident that I could do anything I set my mind to. Specifically, my Dad always said, “Anything where you get to talk, you’ll be just fine.” Talking, teaching, and making people laugh is my wheelhouse. And so, for the last few years, keynote speaking has become a natural next step in my career. It’s a beautiful blend of my skill set, a combination of my professional passions. And so I'm thrilled that side of my business is growing. It was an honor to be the keynote speaker at the Maine Public Relations Council's annual conference. The theme was “Keeping’ it Real.” This allowed me the privilege of personalizing and sharing one of my favorite talks: “Their, There, They’re! The Fun & Frustration of the English Language; A Guide to Using Words Goodly.” Communications professionals understand the power of using their words wisely and how challenging that can be when the language itself gets in the way. Now, a talk is only as good as what attendees get out of it and so I’m grateful that they’ve shared a few of their takeaways: “Comedian @LeighannLord talks about being a ‘logophile’ - lover of words at #MPRConference. Least fav words include: hate, fear & last call.” “Do you want to spend your time getting it (the message) right or doing damage control?” “The 3 Ps of proper communication - Pause, Print, Proofread! @LeighannLord is as real as it gets! #MPRConference will never be the same!” "Brilliant! Not only is @LeighannLord very funny, she knew more about Maine issues than most voters." “@LeighannLord=#bestspeakerEVER! If you love words you need to read her book.” (Dict Jokes) If you’re looking for a funny and inspiring speaker for your upcoming conference, retreat or event, I’m currently booking speaking dates for 2018 and 2019. I have several topics that might be a good fit for your group. Email me and let's set up a call to figure out if our dates and passions collide.
