If you grew up with me in comedy then you’ll remember that My Dad would come to a lot of my shows. Back in the day everybody knew him and there wasn’t a club he couldn’t get into without me; even Carolines on the weekends. My Mom would come with me on my weekend road gigs. We’d shop all day and laugh all night.
My Parents were in the audience when I taped Lifetime’s Girls Night Out and HBO’s Def Comedy All-Star Jam.
It was one of the proudest moments of my career when I brought My Dad to see me perform at the Apollo. (The Staff took such good care of him that night.)
My Parents are much older now (aren’t we all) and so, I don’t bring them out with me anymore; but their lifelong love and support of me are the real stage I stand on. And so in a way, it’s always Take Your Parents to Work Day and they are with me at every show.
