HIM: Did you hear about William Stephenson?

[long silence]

ME: I don't think I like your tone.

HIM: No. You don't like my tone.

[long silence]

ME: When?

HIM: I heard late yesterday.

William was the MC for my first stand-up comedy album recorded at the Comic Strip. I couldn't imagine having anyone else. At the time, the Strip was my home club, and William was basically the house MC. But honestly, he was one of the best in the City.

I was beyond honored when he said yes. I am beyond heartbroken that he is gone.

"... Hey, let's have another round of applause for your host, William Stephenson everybody... Willliam Stephenson!"
