Flat Out Lucky

Nobody ever has time for a flat tire. It’s not something you schedule or put on your to do list. But today was the perfect day for it. Why?


* It wasn’t super cold.
* There was no precipitation.
* It happened in the middle of the afternoon with quite a bit of daylight left.


And while I thought I did - but didn’t - have roadside assistance on my auto insurance policy, I did have it through my dealership. Score!


I met a coolAF tow truck driver, Mike, who served up easy conversation and smooth compliments. “You’ve got that valedictorian swagger,” he said.

What? OMG! How did he know? I guess it was my lucky day to be riding with a sapiosexual.


Instead of taking me out to a Honda dealership on the island, (that roadside assistance thought was closer) he took me to my home dealership. I’ve been going there for so long that walking in makes me feel like... well... coming home. (Shoutout to Hillside Honda!)


I got there after most of the mechanics had gone for the day, but someone there was still kind enough to fish out the donut from my overloaded trunk, put it on, and slotted me for tomorrow morning for the real fix. Holla!


Why is any of this important? Because I don’t think I’m a naturally glass half-full person. I work at it. Days like this make it pay off.


Life is a yin-yang swing between horrible happenings and beautiful moments. The former are plentiful, making the latter even more precious. And so, even one tire down, that’s how I’m trying to roll.
