About Last Night at The Hopewell Theater

2/22/2020

This was my second time performing at the Hopewell Theater. (The first was with Carole Montgomery Presents Funny Women of a Certain Age.) It is a beautiful, intimate space that attracts a smart and receptive audience. Last night's show, “Progressively Funny," with Scott Blakeman and John Fugelsang was fantastic!

Side Note for Newbie Comics: In this business, you have to expect the unexpected. Initially, I was told that I would be doing a 30-minute set. I showed up and learned it would be 15. Midway through the emcee opening the show I got a text that said, “Hey, you can do 20.”

Ok.

There was a time when this would have terrified and flustered me. Now, I just show up and adjust. I went on stage and edited on the fly. Usually, it’s easier to cut than to add, but that depends on the experience and material reservoir of the comic.

The time that you invest writing, performing, and progressing eventually allows you to show up and confidently say, “Ok.”

And then kill it.
