In This Episode of People with Parents…
was originally done as a YouTube video. Watch it here. I've started the physically and emotionally arduous task of cleaning out My Parents things. It's not just clutter. It’s making decisions about things that they thought were important. Or things they never got around to throwing away and now it's my job. But I’m also managing to find the funny. Love love love that you are sharing this difficult, but all too familiar time. Mine is not an Alz story, but about my "angel". My husband was a mega hoarder (800 DVD's , some unopened and many duplicates). I later found out he had enlisted our son to get the mail before I got home so I wouldn't know he was still collecting. After all, what else is there to do when you are (mostly) of sound mind and bedbound? Anyway, our dear dear friend Russell spent three weeks after my husband's death listing the hoard online and coordinating clean up. Ten years later, I continue to thank him on a regular basis. I don't know about tire irons, but there were at least ten sets of basic tools-hammers, screwdrivers, sockets etc. Plus the DVD's and I won go into the literal pick up bed of books of all sorts. Angels are the best...
