I started locking my hair (Sisterlocks) in 2001 and was natural for many years before that. (You can read about the early days of my hair locking journey at MySisterlocks.Blogspot . com.)
I Love My Locks. Getting them was and is the best decision I ever made for my soft, fine, kinky, curly, multi-textured hair. I’ve never seriously considered cutting my locks. Just a trim would push me into a panic. I’d have flashbacks to a beautician who once used my hair to channel his inner Edward Scissor Hands. Well, for many reasons, the time has come for a change. And so [DEEP BREATH] I had my loctician remove several inches of my locks. She did a blunt cut and left the ends ragged because my hair has never been perfectly even. (One side grows faster than the other). And I’m so pleased that I was even inspired to break out my old Soft Spike Curlers and get a lil’ fancy. (The downside to very long hair is that it doesn’t hold a curl. And as my locks got longer, curling them became too much effort for not a lot of return. You know, like some relationships.) So, it’s NOT The Big Chop [PHEW] but it was a big enough chop for me. Comments are closed.
